huuum.. where should i start..well just bought it a couple days ago, so this review will be updated as i have more time and experience with it.
About the aesthetic side of it.. WOW! when u connect it seems like a xmas tree!(how appropriate for th season!)
it really as a nice touch and feel, some elements in alluminium really help to forget the plastic side of controllers.
the knobs/encoders and sliders/faders are well made (though plastic, of course) and work allright. an advantage of these knobs is that they're endless rotary encoders! (meaning most of all precise control, no jumps!)
although u might think this would be enough.. u pay a lot for this toy so.. it still has 37 mini keys with a really nice feeling and velocity, plus 16 trigger pads u can use in different ways, also fully assignable as almost or everything in it.(ex:: in arkaos u can use them to trigger clips or to change effects values!)
another point for korg goes for the lcd's: each group (slider+encoder) as an lcd attached. this gives u the real value of each and gives u the option to link a color to each (ex: encoders=orange; sliders=green...) and are completely readable. pitch/bend is fully assignable as well as the other encoders/sliders, but there's a really nice detail about it: u can assign different actions to the X_axys and to Y_axys as well as their negative movement(this way u can control a value upwards from 0 and a different control from 0 downwards ).
To assign it is also really easy! and believe me the sub displays really help giving u all the info about each one separately.
u can use it usb-powered, ac-adapter or batteries (when u'r in the middle of nowhere and want to spare your laptop battery )
one negative point is that microkontrol only works with windows XP or mac OS X, though u can try to connect to other OS via the midi connection and a midi interface.
for now it's all, an update will come soon with experiences!
